A red rug with an all-over floral field in the Persian style: flowering sprays, palmettes and small blossoms are spread symmetrically across the ground around a pair of small lobed motifs at the centre, with little vase forms along the lower edge and leafy spandrels in the corners. A wide border of large palmettes, rosettes and leaves, between narrow guard stripes, frames the design.

Hand-knotted in India in wool and silk, with a soft sheen that catches the light. At 61×90cm this is an extra small rug, a good size for an entrance or beside a bed.

Material: Wool and silk pile, hand-knotted in Pakistan. The wool gives strength and body, and the silk adds a soft sheen to the pile.

Silk is more delicate than wool and can show pressure marks and changes of light more readily, and strong colours can fade unevenly in direct sunlight.

Instead of one large medallion, this rug spreads its pattern evenly across the whole field, in the manner of Persian village and workshop rugs such as Sarouk and Mahal. Flowering sprays, palmettes, small blossoms and curling leaves are arranged in mirror-image pairs around two small lobed motifs at the centre, so the eye moves gently over the surface rather than settling on one point. Along the lower edge, little vase forms send up stems of flowers, and leafy spandrels soften the corners. A wide border of large palmettes, rosettes and leaves, set between narrow guard stripes with a small reciprocal pattern, frames the field with a strong contrast. The flowing, curvilinear drawing and the touch of silk in the pile give the rug a refined, lively surface. It suits an entrance, a bedside or a small sitting area.

Returns
For a change of mind, contact us within 30 days of delivery. Items must be unused, in original condition and in original packaging. Return shipping is paid by the customer and can be expensive from outside Japan, so please ask us about size or colour before you order. If your rug arrives damaged, defective or not as ordered, contact us with photos within 30 days of delivery: we pay for the return and send a replacement or a full refund.
