Rug material

Only one available — one-of-a-kind.

Bold solid bands of deep chocolate-brown alternate with cream and finely-striped tan down the length of this rug, giving it a strong, grounded rhythm. Two rows of small dark tribal squares sit in the lighter bands — a quiet nomadic accent within the bigger sweep of the stripes.

Hand-knotted in Afghanistan from hand-spun wool rich in lanolin, the pile is dense, soft underfoot, and naturally resistant to everyday wear. The deep brown and cream contrast feels both rustic and modern, and the gentle irregularity of the bands marks it as a genuine one-of-a-kind piece.

Material: 100 percent hand-spun Afghan wool, naturally rich in lanolin, which gives it softness, a subtle sheen, and a natural resistance to everyday dirt and spills.

Care instructions

  • Vacuum regularly on low suction without a rotating brush.
  • Rotate the rug occasionally so it wears and fades evenly.
  • Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth, working from the outside in, and do not rub.
  • Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight to protect the colour.
  • Use a professional rug cleaner for any deep clean.
  • Light shedding is normal with new wool and settles within the first few months.

This is a striped Gabbeh at its boldest: instead of fine, even lines, the weaver has set down wide solid bands of dark brown against cream, letting the contrast carry the design. Small diamond-in-square motifs, drawn freehand, break the lighter bands with a touch of tribal detail. Because the wool is hand-spun and naturally dyed, the bands vary in width and depth and the little motifs never quite match — those irregularities are the fingerprint of a handmade piece, the trace of a single weaver rather than a machine.
