Hand-knotted in Afghanistan in wool. The field and the border band both show soft natural streaks in the yarn, which keep the large plain areas from looking flat. At 200×294cm this is a large rug for a living room or dining room.

Material: 100 percent wool pile, hand-knotted in Afghanistan. Wool is naturally resilient and hard-wearing, and the pile is made for everyday use in living and dining rooms.

A light, plain field like this shows dark spills and the direction of the pile more than a deep or busy ground would, so it can look lighter or darker depending on how it is brushed.

The layout here is pared right back: a wide open field, a single framing band, and a plain outer margin. The band is made of small rectangular blocks set side by side in an alternating rhythm, so it reads like a checkered ribbon wrapped around the field. The blocks are not perfectly even in size or spacing, and the streaky wool runs through them, which keeps the border relaxed and hand-made rather than strict. Because almost all of the rug is plain, it brings light and calm to a room, gives furniture plenty of space, and lets the framing band quietly define the area. It works well under a sofa grouping or a dining table, and suits a bright, modern or Scandinavian-style living or dining room.

Orders are dispatched within 3 to 5 business days, then take 7 to 15 business days in transit. Every order ships with tracking. Returns
For a change of mind, contact us within 30 days of delivery. Items must be unused, in original condition and in original packaging. Return shipping is paid by the customer and can be expensive from outside Japan, so please ask us about size or colour before you order. If your rug arrives damaged, defective or not as ordered, contact us with photos within 30 days of delivery: we pay for the return and send a replacement or a full refund.
