Rug material

Only one available — one-of-a-kind.

A deep taupe rug with no pattern: the whole surface is one colour, enriched by fine horizontal streaks of lighter and darker tone that run across the width, like the grain of weathered wood. There is no border and no motif, only the texture of the hand-knotted pile.

Hand-knotted in Afghanistan in wool. The streaking comes from natural variation in the yarn, so the surface looks rich and lived-in rather than flat. At 194×283cm this is a large rug for a living room or dining room.

Material: 100 percent wool pile, hand-knotted in Afghanistan. Wool is naturally resilient and hard-wearing, and the pile is made for everyday use in living and dining rooms.

A deep, earthy tone like this hides everyday marks well, but the plain surface shows the pile direction, so it can look lighter or darker depending on how it is brushed, and strong sunlight can fade it unevenly.

This is a plain rug in the truest sense: no border, no motif, no medallion, just one colour and the character of hand-spun wool. Look closely and the surface is full of fine horizontal streaks, slightly lighter and darker, that run across the width like grain in timber. They come from small natural differences in how each batch of yarn takes the dye, and they give the rug a soft, moving texture that changes as the light shifts. A deep, earthy tone like this grounds a room without drawing attention to itself, sits comfortably with wood, leather and linen, and makes a calm base for patterned cushions or bold art. It suits a modern or natural living or dining room where warmth and texture matter more than pattern.
