Only one available — one-of-a-kind.

A teal blue rug with a floral lattice design: tall ogee frames formed by interlacing vines run across the whole field, and each frame holds a spray of leaves, small flowers and curling blossoms. The pattern is drawn in a lighter, glossier tone of the same colour, so it seems to rise from the deep ground as the light changes.

Hand-knotted in Afghanistan in wool and silk. The silk picks out the vines and flowers with a soft sheen, while the wool keeps the ground deep and matt. There is no separate border; the lattice runs edge to edge. At 180×278cm this is a large rug for a living room or dining room.

Material: Wool and silk pile, hand-knotted in Afghanistan. The wool gives strength and body to the ground, and the silk adds sheen to the pattern.

Silk is more delicate than wool and can show pressure marks and changes of light more readily, and the pile looks lighter or darker depending on the direction it is brushed.

This rug is built on an ogee lattice, one of the oldest repeating layouts in textile design. Interlacing vines swell and narrow down the length of the rug, forming tall, pointed frames, and each frame is filled with a balanced spray of leaves, small flowers and curling blossoms. Rows of rounded flower clusters sit where the vines cross. Because the drawing is done in a lighter, silk-rich version of the same teal blue, the design changes with the light: in the morning it may look almost plain, and in lamplight the vines and flowers shine against the deep ground. There is no medallion and no separate border, so the lattice simply runs to the edges and reads evenly from every side. It suits a calm living or dining room that wants depth of colour rather than contrast.
