Only one available — one-of-a-kind.

A crimson field carrying four small diamond güls in a single column, each outlined in cream and sage with a hooked edge and holding a red and black star at its heart. Larger stepped half-diamonds in tan, red, sage and black reach in from both sides of the field, level with the gaps between the güls. Several border bands of crimson and sage lozenges, small coloured rosettes and diamond lattice run on all four sides, closed by a plain crimson outer band and ivory fringe at both ends.

Hand-knotted in wool. The four güls are small and set well apart, so most of the field is open crimson; the stepped half-diamonds at the sides are larger than the güls themselves. At 97×148cm this is a 3×5 rug — a hallway, entrance or bedside piece.

100% wool pile, hand-knotted in Pakistan, with ivory fringe at both ends. Wool is naturally resilient and hard-wearing, and the dense pile of a Jaldar is made for everyday floor use.

Because so much of the field is open crimson, it will show vacuum tracks and pile shading — lighter or darker depending on which way the pile is brushed. The cream outlines of the güls and the ivory fringe will show dirt first in a hallway.

On most Jaldars the güls fill the field. Here they are deliberately small: four compact diamonds, each outlined in pale cream and sage, spaced well apart down the centre of a wide crimson ground. Now look at the sides. The stepped half-diamonds reaching in from the edges are bigger than the güls they surround, and they carry the busier pattern — tan, red, sage and black in layered steps. It reverses the usual order of things. The centre is quiet and open, the edges are bold, and the four small güls read like jewels set on a red cloth. That generous space is also what makes the crimson glow: there is simply more of it to see than on a densely patterned rug, and the cool sage in the güls and borders sharpens it further.
