A soft turquoise rug with an allover floral design: large stylised flowers, some round and many-petalled, others with looping four-lobed outlines, are set in staggered rows across the field, with slender vines and small leaves winding between them. The motifs are drawn in a muted, slightly deeper tone, so the pattern looks like a shadow resting on the colour.

Hand-knotted in Afghanistan in wool and silk. The ground shows fine horizontal tonal streaks that give it a gently washed look, and the silk adds a soft sheen to the flowers. There is no separate border; the pattern runs to the edges. At 182×275cm this is a large rug for a living room or dining room.

Material: Wool and silk pile, hand-knotted in Afghanistan. The wool gives strength and body to the ground, and the silk adds sheen to the pattern.

Silk is more delicate than wool and can show pressure marks and changes of light more readily, and the pile looks lighter or darker depending on the direction it is brushed.

This rug uses a relaxed, modern take on the allover floral layout. Two kinds of large flower alternate across the field: a round bloom with layers of petals around a patterned centre, and a looping four-lobed flower drawn with concentric outlines. They sit in loose, staggered rows, while slender vines with small pointed leaves wander freely in the spaces between. Every motif is drawn in a muted tone only slightly deeper than the soft turquoise ground, so the design reads quietly, like a pattern seen through water. There is no medallion and no separate border, and the flowers continue to the edges, which gives the rug an open, contemporary feel. Fine streaks in the ground add movement. It suits a bright living or dining room with light wood and simple furniture.

Returns
For a change of mind, contact us within 30 days of delivery. Items must be unused, in original condition and in original packaging. Return shipping is paid by the customer and can be expensive from outside Japan, so please ask us about size or colour before you order. If your rug arrives damaged, defective or not as ordered, contact us with photos within 30 days of delivery: we pay for the return and send a replacement or a full refund.
