Vivid streaks of colour run the width of this rug — bands of turquoise and teal break against rust and copper, charcoal-black, and warm tan, each line streaked and broken so the surface shimmers like weathered metal or a tide line. It is bold and painterly, with no motif or border to quiet it down; the restless stripe is the whole design.

Hand-knotted in Afghanistan from hand-spun wool rich in lanolin, the pile is dense, soft underfoot, and naturally resistant to everyday wear. The high-contrast turquoise-and-rust palette makes it a true statement piece, and the broken striations of the weave mark it as a genuine one-of-a-kind rug.

Material: 100 percent hand-spun Afghan wool, naturally rich in lanolin, which gives it softness, a subtle sheen, and a natural resistance to everyday dirt and spills.

Care instructions

  • Vacuum regularly on low suction without a rotating brush.
  • Rotate the rug occasionally so it wears and fades evenly.
  • Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth, working from the outside in, and do not rub.
  • Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight to protect the colour.
  • Use a professional rug cleaner for any deep clean.
  • Light shedding is normal with new wool and settles within the first few months.

Gabbeh weaving gives the weaver freedom to work in pure colour, and here that freedom turns bold. Rather than calm, even bands, the stripes are deliberately streaked and broken — turquoise crashing into rust, charcoal and tan — so the whole field flickers with movement. Because every strand is hand-spun and naturally dyed, no two lines repeat; those restless striations are the fingerprint of a handmade piece, the trace of a single weaver rather than a machine.
